WHA's First Service Project on Sat., Dec. 6th

Join us for WHA's first service project of the year! We will be painting Memory Boxes to give to the families of babies who are stillborn or who pass away in Wilford Hall's NICU. Of course, we won't be all work and no play! We'll have plenty of time to relax and chat over a cup of hot cocoa and some yummy baked goods!Memory Boxes are small painted boxes parents can use to store precious keepsakes from their limited time with their baby, such as photos, their child's hospital bracelet, a small article of clothing, or a lock of hair. For many of these families, their memories and the contents of these boxes are all that they have to remember their child.Your children are welcome to attend this event! If you will be bringing your kids, please indicate their ages in your RSVP. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

Our book vendor, Books Are Fun, is back at WHMC to offer great books for holiday gifts and WHA is adding to the excitement by selling baked goodies. We need your help - please join us!

BAKERS: Please email cgirton@yahoo.com if you plan to bake something. Baked goods can be dropped off December 2-5. Please freeze any goods that will not be sold within 3 days, wrap each individual baked good securely, and include name of baked good and an ingredients list so we avoid any allergy issues. (If using a box mix – just snip off the ingredients list.) Please pick your most convenient drop off-location and remember to call ahead to get drop off instructions and gate entry:

Holiday Cooking Class @ Central Market

For those of you who have discovered Central Market know how everything prepared there is perfection! For those of you who have not yet partaken of some of the best cu-linary delights San Antonio has to offer here is your chance!!! The BAMC Auxiliary is hosting a holiday themed cooking class. The menu was de-signed specifically for those of us looking for new twists on standard dishes.

Childcare will be provided. Please RSVP no later than MONDAY, November 10th. Space is limited!!!

Don’t miss this chance to see the Children’s Inn, one of the only Fisher Houses in the country for children and
their families. Fisher House provides a home-away-from-home for seriously ill or injured military members and

Mild Salsa!!!

Hello!

We appreciate your attendance at our Welcome Lunch. For those of you that attended, we regret to tell you, we just learned that the MILD Salsa has a "Best buy" date of August 6, 2008. Since the shipment arrived just a few days before the lunch, we didn't think to check the jars. We apologize for this problem.

Could you please let us know if your salsa has the August 6, Best buy date? We would like to let the company know how many jars there are when we contact them. (You can find the date towards the bottom of the jar, on the side. It's a little hard to see.) Simply reply to this email to let us know you have one.

Volunteers needed for the 37th Services 5k Costume Run

W.H.A. volunteers needed for the 37th Services 5k Costume Run on Wednesday October 29th @3:30 p.m.

W.H.A. will provide volunteers to help with the race. This is a great opportunity to promote our group at a base wide event and provide a service.

It’s a fun event that is well attended.

Help Needed with Fisher House Dinner

W.H.A. will provide a meal on Thursday, October 23 for families staying at the Lackland Fisher Houses.

W.H.A. needs volunteers to provide dinner items as well as help serve the meal to families.

Dinner starts at 6 p.m. @ Lackland Fisher House III.

Drop off food items to Lackland Fisher House III throughout the day of the dinner.

Guests at the Fisher House are always so appreciative of the meal and the opportunity to socialize.

Favorite Menu Items Needed:

· Fruit tray (for 20-25 people)
· Fresh Veggie Tray (for 20-25 people)

We will normally be meeting at 9:30 am, but this Friday is early release day for schools and we have to be finished with childcare by 11:00 am. If you will be needing childcare please email me by Wednesday night and let me know the ages and how many children you might need it for so I can tell the childcare workers at the church.
